There is no substitute for experience. Over 12 years in the finance sector with major Australasian banking group, Westpac Rob rose through branch management to specialise in franchise businesses nationally.
Many of the skills he acquired have been to applied in a number of subsequent business ventures: franchise management roles with U-Bix Document Solutions and Robert Harris Café (part of Cerebos Greggs Ltd), owning and operating 2 video store outlets and 4 child care centres with wife Sheree and of course his acquisition of Chatfield Marine in 2006.
All have provided unique challenges. Chatfield is mature and well-established company which Rob has transformed into a modern marketing and manufacturing unit, focusing on design excellence. Rob believes firmly that the quality and workmanship inherent in Chatfield’s range of beautiful marine hardware may be matched, but will not be bettered. A number of prestigious boating building brands seem to agree.
Despite the diversity of his business interests, Rob insists on a balanced life-style with Sheree and their family of 3 children – BMX racing, swimming, netball and soccer – and boating, fishing, mountain bike riding when he gets time for himself.
